I do not know why, but I'm just fascinated by the world of shiny cards. Was browsing through the various banks' websites and seeing how many debit cards are out there for me to apply. I ain't a lucky boy to be frank, i have no supplementary cards from my parents. So all these cards that i have, had all experienced through rains and shines. Its true that cards without the hidden credit inside are white elephants, or you can address them as vases that are for decoration purposes. I'm a self-initiated young guy that is driven by the two Cs, cash and credit cards. It just feels safe with money around you. But the bottom line is that, never do boast that you have the money.

I had a complaint that i want to lament here badly enough that actually prompts me to start this sudden entry, 6:41 am in the morning. And this argument was a add-on to many users' voices. So guess what? I really think the new UOB NOW Debit card is ugly. And worst of all, the three-lettered word, N-O-W, were imprinted across the whole card that really does not spark me NOW to make purchases using that card. Rather i just got an opposite feeling to stop using that card NOW. The colour is red and this makes it look like any other OCBC cards since red has been OCBC franchise colour all along. And the UOB Mini Card that I've applied has been rendered useless! It just struck me hard on the head that i have not got to use that card ONCE. Why should they actually go combine all those mesmerizing cards to 1 single card that really leaves no appetite to hungry beings? Oh yes, you can sense my anger is building up into a rage. And why should i bear such a grudge against UOB is mainly because this pioneer company that i started out with, did not send me the replacement card! It was only until all my friends started talk about this matter and then i realised UOB will alienate customers that have a deep low savings of $10 in the bank! *Smirks!*. So i have to go to my original branch to sign up for my card and i merely made a stinging comment that "must be UOB does not like low savings customers" and the employer that was attending to me quickly replied "no la". Oh and why i have so little money in UOB is because UOB is my "paying-bills" bank. So its like i will credit my tuition money into UOB and from there i will utilise the remaining funds to pay for the likes of hand phone m1, scv digital cable and my prudential savings plan bills etc"

Another reason why i hate the new collaboration between banks and ezlink company is that NOW, i can't just tap by placing my wallet against the reader. It will have loud wailing "beep" sounds that say error. And why is there this mishap? Because the UOB NOW card has an electronic purse that can be sensed by the reader even though its not activated. So as you all know, we will use our NS or student Ez-link card for payment purposes so this new acquired function will complicate matters by creating an unnecessary din, which means from the day I've put the NOW card into my wallet, i had to take out my ezlink every time i make a tap against the reader. Super lecih(troublesome in Malay) sia. Lucky I'm using bus concession now which saves me some trouble since i do not have to tap when i alight from the bus you see.

So anyway back to topic about credit cards, a bank that has always caught my attention was Citibank. So there was this Citibank Clear card that stopped me in my tracks and i was on to it. Basically it functions as a credit card but with maximum credit limit of $500. So in other words, you get to enjoy privileges like a normal credit card users but you have to clear your debt once it reaches $500. Relatively promising because for student and NSFs, there is no minimum income/deposit and you get to enjoy the satisfaction of signing for goods. But there is still this problem that for people below 21 years' old, there is a must for parents' consent. Hence i guess i shall officially get this card when i go into uni next year then. Will be more appropriate since i still am considering to get a debit card from DBS if i really get into NUS. Speakign about these universities-banks representatives. OCBC is the main bank for NTU and SMU while for NUS its DBS. Was kind of baffling as to why will UOB gives up its right to be the main spokesperson for NTU then.

The trickiest part is still convincing my mum to let me withdraw all money from my POSB trust account with her next year. As you know, trust account requires the guarantor to operate any transactions hence i guess that's going to be the difficult part. Its still better to have a DBS/POSB card in your wallet as they are the main market holder in singapore. Well i guess that leaves me with no choice but to go NUS since i can comfortably argue my way out by saying with a DBS NUS Debit Card, there are alot of offers/privileges that i can enjoy in NUS. ok sounds silly but i just want to manage my own funds thats all. Theres always this better feeling of managing your own wealth under your hands for rainy seasons.

My savings has rose gradually since the start of my isolation plan. But the amount of money spent on food is still a large percentage i guess. And i really need to spend some money to get myself a formal pants and leather boots for the dinner next next friday at Amara hotel. Not forgetting my sis's wedding in september 4th, kind of dreading the notion of going shopping when i want to maximise my savings.

And thank you specially to my ma'am ASP jenny sim for buying me a white adidas watch that will matched perfectly with my tanned skin.
